So much of the holidays are about tradition, and a holiday reading of Truman Capote’s A Christmas Memory has been a long-standing Filson tradition. A 1960s classic, A Christmas Memory is a story about a seven-year-old boy, Buddy, his cousin, an eccentric old lady and a little rat terrier called Queenie. Buddy and his cousin are each other’s best friends, whose relationship is symbolized by the baking of fruitcakes. The poverty and despair of the Great Depression fails to stop or even slow down this loving relationship at a special time of the year. Actors Theatre’s William McNulty, who portrays Ebenezer Scrooge’s character in A Christmas Carol, will read the holiday classic, A Christmas Memory, by Truman Capote.
In his time at Actors Theatre since he joined in 1976, William McNulty has performed in over 150 plays, including four roles in A Christmas Carol, and directed more than 30 productions. He has also acted or directed at New York’s Public Theater, Washington’s Arena Stage, the Alliance Theatre of Atlanta, Cleveland Play House, and Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park.
