Description

Join the Filson Historical Society and the Food Literacy Project Friday, July 6 for a walking tour of Oxmoor Farm. Participants will meet at the Oxmoor Farm Estate off Shelbyville Road. Shirley Harmon, Executive Director of the Oxmoor Estate, will give a walking tour of the outbuildings and grounds of the estate. The group will carpool and tour the nearby Christian cabin and family cemetery before traveling to the Oxmoor Farm site of the Food Literacy Project’s outdoor classroom. Participants will experience a unique “field-to-fork” farm tour before enjoying a picnic lunch prepared by teen participants in the Youth Community Agriculture Program, using vegetables they grew. This tour will require a lot of walking and will take place outdoors, so participants are encouraged to dress appropriately.  The tour will begin at 9:00 at Oxmoor Farm, conclude with lunch, and return by 1:00 p.m. Space is limited to 30 and advanced registration is required.
